Manager believes his team must forget about forthcoming FA Cup final when they face Ewood Park club to prevent a repeat of the crushing defeat against Liverpool

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has asked his team to be cautious and not complacent ahead of the crucial game at Blackburn Rovers on Monday which could leave them four points in front of top-four chasers Tottenham.

City secured a place for the FA Cup final against Stoke last Saturday in a Manchester derby which saw off Sir Alex Ferguson’s side and took the club closer to landing silverware after a 35-year wait.

However, the Italian boss has called for his team to keep their feet on the ground at Ewood Park to avoid a repeat of the disappointing performance in the recent 3-0 loss to Liverpool.

Blackburn have not won in 10 games and will be looking to end their woes at home against City to help avoid the increasing chance of relegation.

Mancini was quoted as saying by The Mirror: "It has been a good week but now Manchester United are in the past. We should forget it.

"Now we need to focus only only on the next four games before the final. It is impossible to think of the final at this moment.

"We have games against Blackburn and West Ham, teams fighting against relegation. These matches are very dangerous.

"If we think we can go to Blackburn and play 50% it is better we stay at home and not spend the money to go there.

"If we have the same focus as against United, the same concentration we will win a lot of games.

"That is important because we have lost many points in the last month. We must remember what happened at Liverpool.

"We must give 100% because Blackburn are a strong team at home and it will be a very hard game."
