thumbnail Hello,

The Anfield boss admitted that he was concerned when the Reds skipper was substituted during draw with Arsenal, but revealed that the the defender was 'brand new' after the match

Kenny Dalglish has revealed that Jamie Carragher was 'brand new' in the Liverpool dressing room following the head injury that forced him off during the 1-1 draw at Arsenal on Sunday.

Carragher was treated on the pitch for six minutes following a clash of heads with team-mate John Flanagan that initially knocked him unconscious. The 33-year-old was put in a neck brace and given oxygen as he was taken off on a stretcher.

Liverpool manager Dalglish moved after the game to ease fears about the defender's condition.
He said: “He's as right as rain now – or at least as regards him! It was a worry at the time but there is no problem. He's brand new.”

Dirk Kuyt equalised for Liverpool from the penalty spot with the last kick of the game in the 12th minute of added time, just moments after Robin van Persie had himself scored a penalty to give Arsenal the lead.

The result takes Manchester United, the Reds' bitter rivals, a step closer to a record-breaking 19th top flight title – but Dalglish insists he has no issue with doing the Old Trafford club a favour.
“We never hand anybody anything,” added the Scot. “We beat Manchester United 3-1 at Anfield so we didn't hand them anything then.

“We only look after ourselves. If anyone gains an advantage then so be it. There are going to be some twists and turns before the end of the season.

“In my eyes this is still the best club in English football. The surprise is that we've not won a title for so long. It would be fantastic to get back there – but we have to hit the targets of the top four.”
