thumbnail Hello,

Veteran midfielder believes the Mexican, who has scored 18 goals this season, is not only key because of his strike-rate but also due to the space he creates for his team-mates

Manchester United's Ryan Giggs has hailed team-mate Javier Hernandez following his fine run of form and believes that it is not just his goals that make him a great player, but his ability to create space for others in the side.

The Mexican striker scored his 18th goal of the season on Tuesday night, but Giggs believes that he contributes far more than just goals to the United cause.

The Welshman was quoted as saying by The Express: “Chico is really important, not just for his goals, but his team play as well.

“He is a constant worry for defenders because he is always running in behind them.

“It stretches teams and that’s great for the lads behind him because it gives them space to play. It has a massive effect on the team because Wayne [Rooney] is able to pick up those spaces.”

Hernandez will be without strike partner Wayne Rooney for United's FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City on Saturday due to the England striker's suspension.
