Manchester United and Liverpool tracking FC Porto's Rolando, says defender's agent
Rivals chasing the Portugal international centre-back as both sides look to strengthen their numbers at the back as both have struggled with injuries in that position this term
By Ryan Benson
The agent of Portugal international Rolando has claimed that Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool are tracking his client as both sides look to bolster their options at the back before the start of next season, seeing the FC Porto stopper as the ideal man.
The duo are believed to be looking at centre-backs as both sides have struggled with injuries to the heart of their defence, particularly United who at one point had Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans and captain Nemanja Vidic all out.
Rolando's agent, Peppino Tirri, believed that the 25 year-old would cost either club about £13.2 million, however he also claimed that Inter and Juventus were watching his client.
Speaking to Notiziariosportivo.com, Tirri said: “There is also Manchester United and Liverpool following the player.
"I think something could move towards the end of the month. Now the clubs are focused on the championship and the Champions League."
The Porto defender signed for the club in 2008 from Belenenses as a long-term replacement for Pepe who left the Dragao for Real Madrid a year before.
