The People report the 20-year-old threw the darts from a first-floor window because he was ‘bored’ but City have insisted no player was hurt in what they described a ‘prank’ rather than anything malicious.
A club spokesman said: "The matter will be dealt with internally."
This latest incident will add to Balotelli’s growing list of indiscretions, with the most recent before this case being his sending off in City’s Europa League defeat to Dynamo Kiev, which led to Roberto Mancini allegedly throwing a suitcase at the forward.
