Chelsea paid a club-record signing on fee of £1 million to Sao Paolo's Lucas Piazon in order to sign the attacking midfielder, according to reports.

According to the Daily Mirror, Blues owner Roman Abramovich has sanctioned a £5.3m transfer for the 17-year-old prospect, with the starlet picking up a record £1m signing on fee for a teenager.

Piazon has yet to feature for Sao Paolo’s first team, but has already been dubbed the new Kaka, and looks set to move to Stamford Bridge in the summer when he turns 18.

Abramovich’s interest in Piazon was alerted by Dutch scout Pete de Visser, and with Juventus also believed to be keen, Abramovich has moved quickly to wrap up the deal as the renewal of the Chelsea squad looks set to continue.
