Manchester United winger Nani has revealed his admiration for Liverpool's new recruit Andy Carroll.
The young forward joined the club during the January transfer window, after a record £35 million deal had been agreed with Newcastle United.
A thigh problem sustained during his time at the Toon has so far prevented the hitman from making his much-anticipated debut for the Reds, but he could reportedly be in line for an appearance during the crucial clash against Sir Alex Ferguson's men at Anfield on Sunday.
And while United's Portuguese midfielder believes that the towering marksman is one for the future, for now he wants to help the Red Devils overtake their arch-rivals this season in terms of the total number of English top-flight titles won.
The two clubs are currently tied on 18 titles apiece, though Liverpool's most recent was back in 1990 and they have yet to win the Premier League - a feat United have already achieved 11 times.
"It will be interesting,” Nani said of this weekend's crunch encounter, according to The Mirror.
"Carroll is a player with a future. I think he’s a good signing for them.
"But it would be good for our fans for us to go ahead of Liverpool."
