Everton are set to offer midfielder Marouane Fellaini a new contract to fend off interest from Chelsea, according to talkSPORT.

It is widely expected that Chelsea will continue to spend in the summer as they look to freshen up their squad, and they have now been linked with Fellaini, whose reputation has risen this season after some impressive performances for the Toffees.

Everton’s financial troubles have been well publicised, though it is thought that David Moyes is not looking to cash in on one of their prize assests as he looks to build his side on limited funds.

The Toffees are now set to offer Fellaini a new deal, despite his current contract having two years to run, and Moyes is believed to want to avoid losing his player for a cut-price fee next season.

Contract talks for the 23-year-old are set to open and Fellaini is happy to commit to a new deal to remain at Goodison.

Everton will see tying the Belgian down to a new contract as a huge boost as they aim for a top half finish after a poor start to the season.

Fellaini has been involved in 18 Premier League games this season, scoring once.
