thumbnail Hello,

Three things we learned about betting this weekend

1) Red Devils on course to emulate invincibles

Despite eeking out a draw with 10 men against Tottenham Hotspur, the Red Devils have seen their odds stretch from 10.0 to 11.0 to go the season unbeaten. A lot of fuss has been made about this current United side not matching up to previous Fergie vintages never mind Arsenal's Invincibles of 2003/04.

Some 21 unbeaten games into the season United are only two points shy of the Gunners' tally at the same stage seven years ago. For all his glittering achievements, Sir Alex Ferguson has never gone an entire league season unbeaten and wasn't afraid to point out that Arsenal drew 12 out of 38 in their historic campaign. At present United have racked up nine draws and look a good bet at 10/1 (11.0) to pull off the Invincibles part two.

2) Andy's gray matter

Staying in England it was a weekend to remember for tipster Andy Gray. The ex-player/pundit, who suggested that Lionel Messi would struggle to get a kick against Stoke, shrewdly predicted that his old club Aston Villa would draw against city rivals Birmingham City in the second city derby. Better still Mr Gray fancied a 1-1 draw and under 2.5 goals so any punter placing a £10 on his selections would have cleaned up with £94.80.

All four Sunday matches in the Premier League ended in draws with one bookmaker pricing such a scenario at 108/1 (109.0).

3) Leonardo to pull off a second renaissance at Inter?

Memories of Rafael Benitez's tenure are fast fading at San Siro as the reigning Italian champions are returning to form under Leonardo. Inter won their third straight game under their new boss and are now nine points off the pace the Rossoneri with two games in hand.

With several key Nerazzurri players now returning the pressure has been switched to the red and black half of the city as Inter play catch up. You can back Inter at 2.75 to win the Scudetto with Milan (1.90) still the favourites. Even if the title is out of their reach you can still get a price of 1.90 of Inter to win a single trophy compared to 1.65 to win zilch.

Fans looking for value can invest in Inter at 3.75 to win the Coppa Italia. Leonardo has won nothing so far in his managerial career and will surely want it more than any of his contemporaries. His opposite number Massimo Allegri will gladly take the league title in his rookie season at San Siro exactly as Alberto Zaccheroni did in 1998/99.
