Liverpool are believed to have made a £2.5 million offer to acquire the services of Bayern Munich midfielder Mark van Bommel.
The 33-year-old's contract with the Bavarian giants runs out during the summer, and it is thought that the German club would like to cash in on the player instead of losing him for free at the end of the season.
Now The Sunday Times are claiming that Liverpool have tabled a £2.5m offer to sign the veteran midfielder, who has made 66 appearances for the Netherlands.
Van Bommel's agent recently maintained that his client's preference is to make a move to England, amid reports of potential transfers to AC Milan and Inter. But Aston Villa are also thought to be interested.
