New Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has made Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross and talented Utrecht striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel his top targets in the January transfer window, according to The Metro.
Dalglish, who took charge of Liverpool for the first time in their 1-0 FA Cup third round defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, is believed to be keen to bolster his squad as soon as possible.
Shawcross, 23, has continued to impress at Stoke City under the guidance of Tony Pulis, with his no-nonsense approach to defending earning him a number of admirers.
While van Wolfswinkel, 21, played against Liverpool in this season's Europa League for his club and has 11 goals to his name in the Eredivisie this term.
However, Liverpool face a battle in their pursuit for the Dutch hitman, with Italian side Napoli also said to be keen.
