Lyon midfielder Jean II Makoun could see January as the time to make his long-awaited exit from the Stade Gerland, and it could be that the box-to-box player joins Tottenham in the forthcoming transfer window.

The energetic Cameroonian midfielder has found game-time hard to come by since joining the Rhone Valley club and rumours were rife that he could depart in the summer, with Galatasaray forerunners in the race.

No transfer took place, but Makoun has again struggled for regular time on the field this season, though his recent form suggests an improvement in his fortunes.

The interest of Spurs has certainly been piqued and Le Progres has suggested that the London club are closely monitoring the form of the 27-year-old, who could leave for a fee of €10 million (£8.5m).

Lyon initially paid out €14m (£11.9m) to Lille for the dynamic African, but due to his failure to replicate the form that earned him that move, it seems a departure is inevitable.

One man who may not leave Lyon instantly is Anthony Reveillere, who is in talks with the club’s leaders over extending his contract, which presently runs out in June.
