Scot says Portugal star improving all the timeManchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has told winger Nani to concentrate on improving at Old Trafford.
The Portugal winger's form has prompted him to boast he expects to be nominated for the prestigious Ballon d'Or in the future. It is an award that Barcelona trio Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta have been shortlisted for this season, and which Ronaldo, Nani's former United teammate, collected in 2008.
But Ferguson has told him to forget about the award and concentrate on United.
"I am not too worried about the Ballon d'Or to be honest. His aim should be to be successful here," Ferguson told reporters.
"The ability was always there. He has got a tremendous instinct for the game.
"He is two-footed, quick and brave. He never misses a training session and always wants to play."
Twelve months ago it seemed the Portugal winger was destined for the Old Trafford exit after his £17 million move from Sporting Lisbon in 2007.
But the Portugal international has been in sensational form this season and Ferguson acknowledged he had to be patient with him.
He added: "When we bring young players to the club, you hope maturity comes quickly.
"In the case of Nani, it has been a bit slower.
"Now we are seeing some good signs. He is improving, as players do as they go along here, and hopefully it will continue."
