It was one of three changes made by Roberto Mancini from the side who beat West Ham in their last Premier League outing. Jerome Boateng and Jo drop to the bench whilst Nigel de Jong is suspended so James Milner, Alexander Kolarov and Tevez come into the starting XI.
Everton manager David Moyes makes two changes to the side who drew against Wigan, with Leon Osman coming in for the injured Steven Pienaar, while Victor Anichebe is preferred up front in place of Louis Saha who drops to the bench.
Moyes has strikers Saha, Jermaine Beckford and Yakubu on the bench to give him another option should his side need to go in search of goals later in the match.
