Birmingham City slam Stoke City over illegal Sebastian Larsson approach

Better deal offered to Swede as Blues attempt to fend off their rivals
Birmingham City have offered an improved contract to Sebastian Larsson amidst increasing advances from Stoke City.

Potters chairman Peter Coates spoke publicly this week about his interest in Larsson, a move that has incurred the wrath of Blues boss Alex McLeish.

According to Premier League rules, clubs are not permitted to talk about players who are under contract and Larsson still has six months remaining on his St Andrew's deal.

McLeish revealed that the club have already been in touch concerning the illegality of Coates' actions

McLeish has made it clear that renewing the Arsenal youth product's contract is a major concern.

He added:
“I think it’s being prepared as we speak!

“Then it will be up to Seb.

“We will have to see whether he accepts it or not, or if there is any further negotiation. We’d like to keep Seb. We don’t like young guys like Seb walking away on free transfers.

“He’s a good asset and he’s had a good season so far.

“But he’s got to put it to one side and concentrate on his game.”
