Stephen Ireland reportedly wants to leave Aston Villa for greener pastures, where regular football will be in the offing.
The 24-year-old arrived at Villa Park in the summer, as a part-exchange in the deal that saw James Milner move to Manchester City.
But the former Republic of Ireland international's time at the Birmingham-based club has seen him struggle to make consistent appearances, as he has started only six league games for Gerard Houllier.
Now The Mirror reports that Ireland wants to leave the club, amid speculation that his recent appearance against Liverpool may have been his last for Villa.
Ireland has been linked with a loan move to Celtic in January.
