Everton manager David Moyes backs Louis Saha to overcome his goal drought

Frenchman is working hard in training, says boss
Everton manager David Moyes has backed Louis Saha to rediscover his goal scoring form, while defending his choice of strikers during the recent goalless draw with Wigan Athletic.

The two sides clashed at Goodison Park on Saturday, in a game that saw the home side miss a flurry of chances as they prolonged their winless run to seven games.

Saha, for his part, has not scored a league goal for the Toffees since February, but was still given the nod into the starting line-up. But Jermaine Beckford, who recently scored a late goal against Chelsea, was left to warm the bench.

"People may wonder why I am putting Louis in with the record he has had," said Moyes, according to The Independent.

"But what I see in training - and how hard he is working - convinces me. We know the crowd will get frustrated but I have spoken about it with the team and they have to expect it."

Beckford did come on for Saha during the second-half, but it did nothing to change the eventual outcome that was a draw.
