Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer Niko Kranjcar and £1 million cash to force a deal for Everton’s Steven Pienaar, according The News of the World.
Pienaar, whose contract runs out in the summer, looks set to leave the struggling Merseyside club and join Harry Redknapp’s revolution at White Hart Lane.
Redknapp has been chasing Pienaar for a number of transfer windows, and is determined to land the South African midfielder, as reflected in his willingness to offload Kranjcar on a permanent deal, plus £1m, in return for the Everton man’s services.
Kranjcar had previously rejected a loan-move to Goodison Park, only wanting to leave the north London club on a permanent basis.
Everton boss David Moyes, who is resigned to losing Pienaar, is determined that his club will not be bullied in the transfer market again as his cash-strapped Toffees look for the best deal possible.
Moyes will be looking for an immediate replacement for Pienaar and has so far been frustrated with his targets, including Marseille winger Andre Ayew recently.
A quick resolution would be ideal for both parties, with Spurs looking to bolster their squad before the knock-out stages of the Champions League begin.
Currently, Pienaar stands 124th in the Castrol Rankings, up from 170th the previous month, while Kranjcar's lack of playing time at Tottenham has seen his ranking plummet from 697th a month ago to 901st now.
