South African reckons 'anything can happen'Everton winger Steven Pienaar has remained coy about whether or not he intends to remain at Goodison Park until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old has been a pivotal presence on the flanks for the Blues since his arrival after a torrid time at Borussia Dortmund. And having put in strong performances during the course of his stay on Merseyside, the South Africa international has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.
Last month manager David Moyes conceded that he expects Pienaar to leave the club, and Goal.com UK revealed exclusively on Thursday that the Toffees are now eyeing a £2.5 million swoop to bring in fellow South African winger Siphiwe Tshabalala as a replacement.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season and reports that an agreement is nowhere is sight, Pienaar was quizzed by Sky Sports News concerning whether he intends to remain at the club until the end of the season.
He said: "No comment."
But the 28-year-old has still left some room for resolution, as he insisted that "anything can happen".
He added: "I am still focused on staying at Everton, this season is not over yet, so anything can happen.
"In football anything can happen, it can change tomorrow, today, no-one knows."
The former Ajax winger has been linked with a move to Tottenham, who are believed to be on the market to bolster their squad ahead of the Champions League knockout stage.
But Pienaar chose to play down any talk of a move to White Hart Lane, as he said: "I was also told this by one of my team-mates, so I don't know what is going on.
"The media in England is quite big and everyone can say what they want. I am just happy at Everton and I want to focus on my game."
