Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed he was left angry and disappointed after his side's draw with Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The hosts looked set for three points after leading through a Didier Drogba penalty in the first half, but Everton were transformed after the interval and eventually scored through Jermaine Beckford in the 86th minute.

Ancelotti was upset not only with the result, but also the style of play his charges adopted in the second half.

"I'm disappointed, angry, not just for the result [but] because we didn't play well in the second half," he told reporters.

"In this moment we have to look to the next game, we don't have the possibility to look forward.

"Now there is no reason to smile. We have to stay focused, we have to be serious because if we want to change quickly I think that we have to work hard."

"The first half was good, we played very good football, good pressure. [The] second half was totally different, we lost our idea to play our football, [it was] just long ball, [we were] a little bit scared. I didn't like this.

"I think we can lose the game, but we don't have to lose our play.

"We are working to play a different kind of football, and I don't understand why we didn't this evening do this. I think we have to understand why, I have to understand, and to change, so for these reasons I'm disappointed."

Ancelotti conceded Chelsea are struggling through a run of bad results, and that his players must work hard to climb back to the top of the Premier League table.

He added: "Everyone knew this was an important game for us, to move on from the difficult moment, and so we have to know this, and we have to do better on the pitch, on the training ground we have to focus.

"Obviously we wanted to win and we knew we would be top of the table...we don't have to be scared about the criticism, the criticism is normal. We have a great opportunity in the next game against Tottenham, away from home, a fantastic opportunity to show our character.

The Italian was keen to point out he did not believe the loss of assistant coach Ray Wilkins, and the subsequent appointments of Paul Clement and Michael Emenalo, who has stepped up from the scouting system, were responsible for Chelsea's recent dip in form.

He continued: "The reason is on the pitch, not outside the pitch. Paul Clement is a fantastic support, everytime. Emenalo is the same. The problem is not there, it is not on the bench, it is on the pitch."

Ancelotti is now eager to move on, as Chelsea face a difficult run of games, starting with a meeting with Tottenham at White Hart Lane, before further games with Arsenal and Manchester United.

He concluded: "I explain to my players what I feel in this moment, tomorrow we have training session, we have time to speak about this and to prepare the next game."
