thumbnail Hello,

I've worked hard with the medics, says Dutchman

Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt is hoping to get back in contention to face Chelsea over the weekend.

The Dutchman sustained an ankle injury while on international duty last month, and was initially expected to be sidelined for a protracted period of time.

But the 30-year-old has since made a quick return to training, and hopes to make it in time for the blockbuster clash with Carlo Ancelotti's men at Anfield.

"I have worked really hard with the medical team," Kuyt told Channel Five.

"I am quite happy with them because I have recovered quickly. I have trained really hard and am ready to start team training tomorrow."

When quizzed as to whether he would be ready in time for the game against the league leaders, he said: "It depends on how the next couple of days go.

"Hopefully the team training will be okay and at the end of the day it will be up to the manager."
