Fulham striker Andy Johnson set to return from 10-month injury lay-off against West Bromwich Albion

Forward came through development match unscathed

Fulham striker Andy Johnson will return to action against West Bromwich Albion this weekend, bringing an end to his 10-month injury nightmare.

The former England striker played in a development match against Southampton in midweek and manager Mark Hughes revealed that he is ready to return against the Baggies following his shoulder, knee and hip injuries.

"Andy should be OK. He came through 90 minutes and we're pleased with that," said boss Mark Hughes.

"It was the good challenge that he needed to clear his mind. He's available for selection.

"We'll look at the option of starting Andy. It would be more advisable to introduce him slowly and see how he goes."

However, Hughes faces a midfield injury crisis with Danny Murphy, Dickson Etuhu, Damien Duff and Simon Davies all out.

"We have four guys down in midfield so we're a little bit light in that department," stated Hughes.
