Aston Villa are reportedly looking to add fire power to their squad in the form of Lille and Ivory Coast forward Gervinho.

According to The Mirror, current Villa hitman John Carew has suggested he will leave Villa Park in the not too distant future, which will leave Gerard Houllier with a void to fill up-front.

The highly rated 23-year-old could well be the man to fill Carew's boots, having impressed in France and at the World Cup over the summer, however Lille may well be looking to make a profit on the £6 million they paid Le Mans for the frontman which could prove an issue.

The Castrol Rankings currently have Gervinho rated as No.48 overall in the top five leagues in Europe. Villa's highest-ranked player is Stewart Downing at No.135, and their best placed forward is Gabriel Agbonlahor at No.220.
