Jamie Carragher pledges his support for proposed Liverpool takeover

Veteran hoping for an imminent end to the uncertainty of recent times
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has thrown his support behind the proposed takeover of the club by New England Sports Ventures (NESV).

NESV, owners of the Major League Baseball franchise the Boston Red Sox, are in advanced discussions with the Reds' board over purchasing the club from current American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, in the hope of completing a deal before next week's crucial bank deadline.

And Carragher believes the sooner the proposed takeover is completed, the better.

"Everyone knows it'll be a good thing for the club," Carragher told the club's official website.

"Hopefully it will be sorted sooner rather than later and we can start looking forward on the pitch and start improving results, which is what we need to do."

Liverpool currently lie 18th in the Premier League after an atrocious start to the current campaign. Their last game saw them beaten 2-1 at home by newly-promoted Blackpool.
