Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is ready to prove he is 'potentially world class'
Boss 'convinced' of Pole's talent, but will only give him so many more chances...
By Zack Wilson
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given a ringing endorsement to the ability of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, but has also indicated that the Pole must now take the opportunity to establish himself as a credible first team performer.
The keeper has come under the spotlight for some nervous recent displays, but could be handed another chance to impress against Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup.
He conceded five goals in his last appearance at Spurs in the competition two years ago and the pressure will be on the 25-year-old to demonstrate that he has the nerve required at the top level after some high-profile errors in the last couple of seasons.
"I am personally convinced he is a world-class goalkeeper, potentially, and of course when you have that potential you want to transfer that into competitive games," Wenger told the club's official website.
"I can only give him the opportunity to give him games to show what I believe about how good he is.
"I believe he has a very strong attitude, very strong response and he works very hard in training, so he has an opportunity to show his massive talent.
"I have massive faith in him and I think I have shown this historically. I am convinced he will become a great goalkeeper.
"We live in a world where if you have an opportunity you have to take it. You will get a second one, but you will not get 10 - and that is part of our job."
