Manchester United scouts were present to see Panathinaikos starlet Sotiris Ninis get a 10-minute run out against Barcelona on Tuesday, according to talkSPORT.
The 20-year-old winger could only watch much of the 5-1 Champions League demolition job as the Athens side failed to step up to the mark at the Nou Camp. Despite the snub, the Greece World Cup 2010 star remains highly coveted, with Inter and Real Madrid also keeping a close eye on him.
The watching team from United were sent home disappointed after Ninis' minor role. However, they will continue to monitor his form as manager Sir Alex Ferguson surveys replacements for veteran Paul Scholes.
