Tottenham confirm Michael Dawson will be out for six to eight weeks with knee ligament damage sustained with England
Defender to miss both club and country games over coming months...
By Gareth Lovell
Tottenham have confirmed that defender Michael Dawson will miss up to eight weeks through injury, after scans on Saturday revealed that he sprained his left medial knee ligament and left ankle ligament while on England duty.
The centre-back picked up the problem in the 4-0 win against Bulgaria on Friday night and was stretchered off in an obvious amount of pain following an awkward landing under a challenge in the second half.
The defender was immediately withdrawn from the Three Lions' squad to face Switzerland on Tuesday, and ordered by the FA to return back to his club side for further examination and treatment.
Following subsequent scans and assessment, Dawson is now expected to be out for six to eight weeks.
He will therefore miss the start of Tottenham's Champions League campaign, which begins in Germany against Werder Bremen on September 14.
