Wst Ham United midfielder Valon Behrami has admitted that he is "disappointed" not to have made a move to Roma.

The 25-year-old had been linked with a move to the Italian capital throughout the summer, and it was thought that he had already held talks with the Serie A club.

However, Roma were unable to acquire the Switzerland international as the transfer window came to a close, amid suggestions that they were unable to muster up the finances required to complete a move.

Having remained with the Hammers, Behrami has seen the club begin their campaign in a morose manner - witnessing three losses from as many games to sit at the rock bottom of the league standings.

And although the midfielder is not hiding his unhappiness at having remained at Upton Park, he believes that manager Avram Grant will still consider him a part of his plans for the rest of the campaign.

"I am disappointed the deal failed to go through - that is for certain," Behrami said, according to The Sun.

"Avram Grant gave me his permission to speak with Roma.

"But he also said he needs me, with West Ham bottom of the table. I'm sure I'll still get to play for them."
