Everton & France striker Louis Saha turns to leech treatment in attempt to cure long-standing knee problem
Forward has the 'hunger of a 20-year-old'...
By Harry Veal
The former Manchester United player has endured an injury prone career which has prevented him from fulfilling his potential, but he has now turned to this bizarre new treatment in a bid to play more games.
"How did I treat my swollen knees? You're never going to believe how I treated my swollen knees. I went to visit my grandparents, who live in Guadeloupe, and I put leeches on my knees," Saha told the Daily Mail.
"Since then I have had a knee that is not normal, but given what happened before to my ligaments I have to accept it. It swells up less, and I feel fine now.
"I'm well prepared both mentally and physically. I have the legs and hunger of a 20-year-old."
With France due to start their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign against Belarus on Friday after a dismal World Cup display, Saha is hoping to feature more after suffering some untimely injuries.
"My luck has been terrible in the past. I would be fine for six months, then the day the France squad would be announced I'd get injured.
He added: "It has been hard to take. I would not wish a similar fate on anyone, and I have struggled to overcome these setbacks."
