Fulham make move for Roma goalkeeper Doni - report

Fulham manager Mark Hughes has made a late move for out of favour Roma goalkeeper Doni, according to Sky Sports News.

The move could possibly pave the way for the sale of Mark Schwarzer to Arsenal, but the race is on to beat the deadline.

The Brazilian shot-stopper is out of favour at the Serie A club and was left out of the squad altogether at the weekend with Julio Sergio and Bogdan Lobont currently above him in the pecking order.

Hughes had hoped to lure Shay Given to Craven Cottage but the Manchester City keeper is determined to remain at Eastlands and fight for the number one position with Joe Hart.

Doni has a huge amount of experience having represented Brazil on 10 occasions and played for Roma in the Champions League.

David Stockdale, who has been deputising impressively in Schwarzer's absence due to a back injury, has sustained an ankle injury and could be out for a number of weeks, which would leave Hughes short of an experience in between the sticks.
