Official: Wigan Athletic sign Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley on season-long loan

Wigan Athletic have announced the signing of Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old impressed during a loan spell at Watford last year and Roberto Martinez believes he can shine whilst at the DW Stadium.

Speaking to the club's official website, Martinez said: "Tom is a very exciting young player and we are delighted he his coming to us.

"He can play in a number of positions and will provide us with some good new options, and add great competition to the squad."

Cleverley, who signs on the back of Wigan's impressive 1-0 win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane, should feature in the squad in the coming weeks.
