Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that the Gunners may yet make a new signing before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday.

Although the Frenchman admits that there is a lack of meaningful activity at the moment, he has not closed the door on more reinforcements arriving.

"It is dead at the moment," Wenger told his club's official website.

"But maybe not finished. At the moment I would say, as it is [now], it is finished."

Meanwhile, the Gunners boss admitted his delight with Theo Walcott, who netted his fourth goal of the season to crown an impressive performance in the Londoners' win over Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

Wenger feels that the winger is now ready to prove his international doubters wrong the next time he lines up for England.

"He had a good pre-season, he is sharp and I am certain he will get a chance now with England," he added.

"So let's hope he will be ready. He is equipped, he is stronger and I think he is calmer in front of goal."

The Frenchman also stressed that he has respect for Blackburn and their style of play, despite his well-documented antipathy to a physcial approach to the game.

"I respect it. I said that before the game," he insisted.

"Every team is entitled to play the game they want as long as it is efficient and as long as the referees make the rules respected."
