West Bromwich Albion in talks with former Wigan Athletic midfielder Paul Scharner
Di Matteo hopes to wrap up a deal and conclude transfers for the summer...
West Bromwich Albion are in talks with former Wigan Athletic midfielder Paul Scharner.
The Austrian's contract talks with Wigan had remained unresolved towards the end of last season, at which point the player announced he was going the walk away from the DW Stadium.
The 30-year-old has been unattached since leaving the Latics earlier, and is now free to speak to any club he wishes.
And manager Roberto di Matteo has now conceded that the club are speaking with Scharner with a view to signing the player.
"We are talking to Paul and we will see if there is a possibility to do a deal with him," Di Matteo told reporters.
"I guess that would conclude our [transfer] business."
