Newcastle boss Chris Hughton 'disappointed' not to take all three points against Wolves
Boss claims Magpies had best chances at Molineux...
By Joshua Hayward
Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton left Molineux "disappointed" that his side could only manage a point against Wolverhampton Wanderers after declaring that he thought his side were the better team.
Wolves took the lead on 43 minutes after Sylvain Ebanks-Blake expertly controlled a cross-field ball to volley past goalkeeper Steve Harper.
However, on the 62nd minute, Newcastle's newest No.9 drew his side level when he beat the Wolves' defenders to head powerfully in off the post from a Joey Barton cross.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Hughton said: "I think we were the better of the two teams so we're disappointed not to have capitalised on that. I thought we certainly had the better of the chances over the 90 minutes.
"We started the game very, very well but you know when you come here, particularly how Wolves have been over the last couple of seasons and how they fared last season, you know it's going to be a very tough game. You know it's going to go to the last minute, which it did - a little bit disappointed but of course a point here is always a good point."
Hughton also commented on Newcastle's much publicised striker Andy Carroll. The striker, who scored a hat-trick against Aston Villa last week and secured his side a point today is grabbing all the headlines at the minute as Fabio Capello is about to anounce his England squad for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers.
The Magpies boss continued: "Arguably not one of his better games today but I think what he has shown is that even a performance that hasn't perhaps matched his last two performances, he is always a threat.
"Firstly the delivery for the goal was a top class delivery but at the moment, there is nobody better than Andy to get on the end of it."
