Andrey Arshavin, Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie all start for Arsenal against Blackburn Rovers
Theo Walcott keeps his place following his hat-trick against Blackpool...
By Chris Davie
Arsenal welcome back Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie into the starting line-up as they face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
The World Cup-winning midfielder only featured as a substitute in Arsenal’s 6-0 win against Blackpool last Saturday, as manager Arsene Wenger has deliberately eased his captain into the new season after his exertions in South Africa.
Van Persie has appeared in both of the Gunners' Premier League games this term but only as a substitute. As with Fabregas, Wenger has opted to rest the Dutchman, who also participated in the World Cup final, until today.
Theo Walcott has been handed his second start of the campaign following his hat-trick against Ian Holloway’s side last week, although there is no place in the squad for new signing Sebastian Squillaci, who moved to the Emirates from Sevilla on Friday.
Laurent Koscielny returns to the team after completing his one-match suspension after being sent off in his league debut against Liverpool.
Mame Diouf has been given his first Premier League start for Blackburn following his hat-trick in Tuesday’s Carling Cup win against Norwich.
Blackburn: Robinson; Salgado, Ryan Nelsen, Christopher Samba, Gael Givet; El-Hadji Diouf, Phil Jones, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Vincenzo Grella; Mame Diouf, Nikola Kalinic.
Arsenal: Almunia; Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Clichy; Song, Diaby, Fabregas; Walcott, Van Persie, Arshavin.
