Newcastle United have reportedly stated their interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane on a season-long loan.
The Republic of Ireland international has for some time been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane, and talks of the potential arrival of AC Milan's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar have only fuelled the speculation surrounding his future.
Now talkSPORT claims that the former Liverpool forward is open to joining the Tyneside club, owing to his current predicament at north London.
Only last season, Keane was packed away to Celtic on loan during the second half of the season, as he missed playing a part during the business end of the season - which saw Spurs finish fourth to carve a path into the Champions League.
It is thought that Keane's wages may prove to be a stumbling block, as he is thought to be earning about £65,000-a-week - meaning Newcastle would have to cough up that amount if the forward should arrive at St James' Park.
