Wigan Athletic are looking to sign Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi on a permanent contract, according to The Mirror.

Signing a reliable shot-stopper has become a priority at the DW Stadium after the recent poor form of current Latics No.1 'keeper Chris Kirkland.

Reports claim Latics boss Roberto Martinez  has pinpointed Al Habsi as the man to shore up his side's leaky defence and is making a £1.5 million bid to turn the Omani's loan move into a full-time deal.

Martinez took the Oman international on a season-long loan but now wants buy him outright in a move that would allow him two more Premier League player loans.

If Bolton agree to sell Al Habsi and Martinez meets the £2.5 million asking price, then the Spaniard could pursue a loan deal for Chelsea striker Franco Di Santo.
