Everton assistant manager Steve Round says he doesn’t expect to see Steven Pienaar leaving the club anytime soon.

The South African winger has continuously been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer, possibly in a swap involving former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch.

However, Round still views Pienaar, who signed from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund two years ago, as an integral part of David Moyes‘s side.

The 28-year-old also recently moved to cease the frenzied speculation by stating that he would be happy to sign a new contract at the Merseyside club if he was offered a deal.

"The manager (David Moyes) has said all along he wants Steven to stay," said Round.

"He is under contract and as far as we are concerned he will be an Everton player this season.

"There is no truth in the speculation. Steven has been a terrific player for us and is a terrific asset."
