Preston North End manager Darren Ferguson has rubbished talk of a loan switch for Manchester United winger Gabriel Obertan.

Obertan, 21, was spotted in the stands for the weekend match against Portsmouth sparking rumours of an imminent move. Despite the France youth international failing to feature regularly for Sir Alex Ferguson, the Scot's son dismissed reports of the player joining United team-mates Matthew James and Joshua King at Deepdale.

"That's one we've not even spoken about," said Ferguson in the Lancashire Evening Post.

"He's in their first-team squad, there's no chance."
