Micah Richards claims Carlos Tevez's first goal for Manchester City against Liverpool
Defender in no doubt...
By Zack Wilson
Manchester City defender Micah Richards is in no doubt that it was him and not Carlos Tevez who scored the side's second goal against Liverpool at Eastlands on Monday evening.
The Argentine later completed a comfortable 3-0 win with an effort from the penalty spot but there was much more confusion about who netted City's second after Gareth Barry had put them into a first-half lead.
Richards had headed the ball towards goal from a corner, and it appeared to bounce past Reds goalkeeper Pepe Reina after a swing of the leg from the Argentine inside the six-yard box.
Tevez claimed a slight touch before the ball crossed the line, but Richards is having none of it.
"It's my goal - he's going to get 20 this season and he got the penalty, so I'm claiming it," Richards insisted, lightheartedly, to the club's official website in the aftermath of the game.
"I'll be ringing the dubious goals panel in the morning!"
