Blackpool need six more signings to survive the onslaught in the Premier League - Ian Holloway
Boss looking to significantly strengthen his squad...
By Adithya Ananth
The Seasiders achieved promotion from the Championship against the odds last season, and have been widely tipped to be one of the teams to fall prey to the axe this term.
The Lancashire-based club made a positive start to their campaign in the top-flight, managing to trump Wigan Athletic by four goals on the opening day of the season. However, their initial surge of enthusiasm ended there as Arsenal destroyed Holloway's men by putting six past their defence.
Now the gaffer has admitted that he needs to significantly add to his squad, or face the music come January - as the bottom three by that time are usually the clubs that end up being flushed into the second-tier.
"I need at least five or six more players to give my lads even half a chance to survive anything until January," said Holloway, according to the Daily Star.
It has been reported that Blackpool could now be in line to make move for Newcastle United forward Leon Best, and Swansea City's Stephen Dobbie.
Twenty-seven-year-old Dobbie has already been a part of the club before, as he was on loan during the second half of last season helping the club achieve promotion into the Premier League.
