'We can beat everyone' - Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini proud to have put on a show against Liverpool for Sheikh Mansour
Convincing win for Blues as owner attends for first time

And City manager Roberto Mancini was delighted for the whole club after an important victory which will send a strong message to their title rivals.
Speaking to Sky Sports the Italian was happy to give his chairman a victory on his first match. “First off I think we had a fantastic night for Manchester City," he said. "I am very happy for everything. I hoped we could have a good game because he [Mansour] is here for the first time, it is important.”
City started the game with new signing James Milner making his debut and the midfielder made an immediate impact setting up Gareth Barry’s opening goal in the 13th minute. Carlos Tevez added two more goals in the second half to seal the points for City but Mancini was quick to praise the team effort from his players.
“I think the mentality is very important, we played with only Carlos up front but we all know the mentality is important not other things. If the squad has a good mentality [we] can beat everyone,” he continued.
Mancini again opted for Joe Hart in goal in place of Shay Given and the young goalkeeper made two first class saves to continue to give his manager a tough decision about his number one goalkeeper.
“It is very difficult, but it is better like this because I can choose between good players,” Mancini added. “We play every three days so I need the players I have in this moment. I am unlucky because I have four or five injured players but now we play a game between three days and we need the players fresh.”
When asked about Given’s future Mancini remained confident the Irish stopper would remain at Eastlands.
“I hope he can remain here. Shay is a good man, he is a good goalkeeper. I respect his decision,” he said.
Despite the emphatic scoreline, Mancini called for patience as his team gets to know each other better.
“I think for us it is important to improve game after game because I think we need to gel and we need the time to make a strong squad,” he added.
