After securing the signature of Steven Caldwell on Monday Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez is looking to make two further signings to bolster his squad following their disastrous start to the new season, according to The Daily Mail.
The Latics boss is reportedly hoping to secure deals with former West Ham United forward Guillermo Franco and young Chelsea striker Franco Di Santo before his side visit Tottenham on Saturday.
After watching his strikers fail to hit the back of the net in both games at the start of the 2010-11 Premier League season, a 4-0 defeat to Blackpool and 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Chelsea, Martinez looks to be acting quickly to attempt to eradicate the problem.
Franco scored five goals in 16 starts last season as West Ham survived relegation and he was part of Mexico’s World Cup squad this summer.
As well as free agent Franco, Martinez is also expected to agree a loan deal with Chelsea for Di Santo who spent last season on loan at Blackburn.
