Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is hoping to pull off a shock transfer swoop for Real Madrid's Mahamadou Diarra from under the noses of north west rivals Manchester United, according to The Daily Mail.
With the arrival of Mesut Oezil and Sami Khedira at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, there appears to be no place for Diarra in Jose Mourinho’s squad.
The Mali international is entering the last year of his contract so Real are understood to be ready to accept a £6.5 million bid from any interested parties.
With a potential takeover from Indian businessman Ahsan Ali Syed in the offing at Ewood Park, Allardyce would seemingly have no trouble meeting the La Liga club's valuation but may have to fend off interest from local rivals Manchester United.
It is thought, however, that Diarra will have more than just England to choose from, with Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce also believed to be casting an eye over the midfielder.
