Are you disappointed to see William Gallas at Spurs?

I think a lot of Arsenal fans are non-plussed by it, actually. As 'Arry pointed out, it's not as though they've signed Tony Adams, is it? Gallas is a cut-throat mercenary who famously held us to ransom over his salary when he signed in 2006, refused the No.3 shirt because he also refused to cover at left back, there was the infamous St Andrew's strop, and the only reason he hasn't re-signed for us was because of further astronomical wage demands.

Good riddance, and Spurs are welcome to him.

What sort of welcome back to the Emirates can Gallas look forward to when he returns with Spurs?
He will be booed and jeered every time he touches the ball, and rightly so. He's another character who seems to think Arsenal Football Club was built with him as a cornerstone, and he deserves the shellacking he receives.

Given his experience and calibre, will Arsenal miss Gallas this season?

Only if we don't replace him with a like-for-like. Sebastien Squillaci will sign from Sevilla, and if we hopefully add one more we should be absolutely fine. Sure, he was an experienced footballer but my understanding was that he never spoke to anybody in the dressing room except for Mikael Silvestre so I don't think he'll be a huge miss.

Do you expect him to improve Spurs' back line or be a disruptive influence?

I don't know and I don't care. Spurs have a selection of injury prone and inept centre halves so he can hardly be any worse. Although in each of his four seasons at Arsenal he missed at least 15 games with one injury or another.

How did Arsenal fans take to Gallas - particularly when he was handed the armband?

With a bit of a raised eyebrow. The joy of 'stealing' him from Chelsea soon eradicated when tales of his threatening to score an own goal if he wasn't sold came to the surface, as well as details of his wage demands. When he got the captaincy it was a bit of a shock as Gilberto was everyone's first choice, and a far more popular presence in the dressing room.

Where does Gallas rank on the scale of Arsenal legends - and will this move effect his legacy?

He ranks absolutely nowhere. He didn't win anything when he was with us, and is widely castigated across the football world as a self-serving, loony embarrassment. He is aproximately 1/1000th of Steve Bould.
