Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hails 'electric' Theo Walcott after hat-trick
England winger praised after treble against Blackpool...
By Chris Medland
The England international found the back of the net three times in the Gunner's rout over the Premier League newcomers at the Emirates, with Ian Holloway's side failing to cope with Walcott's explosive pace and clinical finishing.
Wenger was waxing lyrical about the 20-year-old post-match, insisting Walcott's performance was a sign of his continued development having undergone a full pre-season schedule this summer.
"He [Theo Walcott] is more electric than he has been to date because he is sharp," Wenger told Arsenal's official website.
"I like today the fact he mixed well the final ball and the finishing. That is always a sign that the player is always more mature."
A Goal.com UK poll shows that readers agree with the Frenchman's assessment of Walcott, with over three-quarters believing he could fire the Gunners to the title this season.
And Wenger added: "Let's not forget that what he does is at a very high pace so it's not always easy to make the right decision, but today [Saturday] I think he got many decisions in the final third right."
