Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger lauds Gunners' fluent attack after Blackpool rout
Manager impressed with hat-trick hero Walcott...
By Michael Landon
A Theo Walcott hat-trick and strikes from Andrey Arshavin, Abou Diaby and Marouane Chamakh rounded off a fine day for the north Londoners and Wenger praised his side's ability to create chances and convert them into goals.
"We created many [goalscoring chances] and we took many as well. Overall we were fluent, sharp and quick going forward where we created chances," he told Sky Sports after the game.
"Credit to Blackpool, they continued to play with 10-men but overall, we had good collective drive today."
Defender Ian Evatt was sent off for the Tangerines on the half-hour mark, and when asked if the sending off was a pivotal point in the match, Wenger said: "It changed the game because really when it was 11 against 11 I felt we were not really focused and wouldn't score. They put over two opportunities at one-nil, but after that they went down to ten men and two-nil down, it was too much for them."
Walcott will draw the headlines for his hatful of goals and Wenger reserved praise for his young English forward.
"I liked his game today because he was creative in the final third, he gave goal [scoring] chances but he finshed as well," he aded.
"There are two important aspects of a striker; one: to pass the ball when you have to pass and he finished when he had to finish."
