West Ham United are preparing a £2.5 million bid for Aston Villa’s Luke Young, according to The Daily Mail.
A fee for the 31-year-old full-back had been agreed with Liverpool in July but the club and player failed to agree on personal terms.
Hammers boss Avram Grant is keen to bolster his squad before the transfer window closes and a need for defenders was highlighted in last Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Villa.
The Mail also claims that Grant has targeted a loan deal for Genoa defender Anthony Vanden Borre, whom he managed at Portsmouth last season.
