Injury-prone centre-back has last chanceTottenham manager Harry Redknapp worries Jonathan Woodgate may never play football again if one final operation fails to cure him of his injury woes.
The 30-year-old, who has suffered from injuries throughout his career, has never been able to rid himself of his recurring groin problem despite having a number of specialist operations in both America and Australia.
The centre-back made only three appearances last season for Spurs and hasn’t played at all since November.
"They're talking about having an operation for Jon now. That's his last chance,” Redknapp told reporters.
"Well, probably. His last resort, I think, will be an op."
Redknapp concedes that Woodgate may have to call time on his football career if the overseas operation isn’t successful.
"Someone abroad's going to do it. The physio's taken him,” he added.
"He's been all around the world looking for a cure."
