Marseille president Jean-Claude Dassier has announced his discontent with Newcastle United over their handling of Hatem Ben Arfa’s potential transfer.
The France international winger has been courted by the English side for some time and has tried to prompt the move by going on strike from his current employers. Dassier believes that the Magpies are now simply trying to milk the situation.
“The English should not take us for idiots,” he told the Mirror. “They have seen what has happened with Hatem and are trying to take advantage. It would be better for him to go to Bremen. They are more serious.”
Dassier also explained where the hiccup in the potential loan deal taking Ben Arfa to England came.
“I asked Newcastle to add an automatic buyout clause if they stay in the Premier League. They refused,” he added.
Ben Arfa has threatened to quit football if the move doesn’t come to fruition.
